Estonia’s official guide to normal childbirth is comprehensive, but its more than 70 pages of content are aimed primarily at health professionals. The guide has been compiled by the Estonian Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the Estonian Society of Midwives and the Estonian Society of Perinatology, so it is full of medical terms and details that are difficult for expectant mothers (or rather anyone) to understand on their own. This birth plan does not cover home births and births in the case of health problems of the mother and/or the foetus (e.g. pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiple pregnancy, foetal death in the antenatal period, intrauterine growth defects, malformations, etc.). This induction plan is intended for use in the case of a timed birth when the whole birth is proceeding at a normal pace and there are no abrupt changes during the birth.
